A Relaxing Day in the Garden
And a HOT one! Yesterday, Marquis and I drove about 30 minutes to Eureka Springs Park. I mentioned I wanted to go on a nature hike and he picked the place so I had NO idea where we were going -- but he certainly picked a good one this time! I had a lot of fun trying out my new telephoto lens and getting more familiar with shooting up close from very far away.
My new lens in the Panasonic Lumix 100-300 mm f 3.5-5.6 and it shoots like a dream. I'm even happier with its performnce considering it is a secondhand lens. Being fairly new to photography, I still have a LOT to learn but one thing I did learn about this lens was that manual focusing is necessary sometimes to get the shot that I envisioned. Thankfully switching to manual focus is a breeze with one click so I don't miss getting a shot of my subject.
I had a particularly hard time focusing on this dragonfly, but managed to get a decent shot with some insane bokeh.
This garden/ park was very well maintained, and had several arches covered in vines and flowers to take pictures of and with.
My favorite area was the greenhouse and pond/ fountain area, which had some nice colorful fish swimming around amidst a stone waterfall feature.
Lastly, I switched to my everyday carry 12-60mm and got some wider shots on the boardwalk roundabout towards the back of the garden:
Other honerable mentions from that day:
I'm having fun trying to find my artistic photography style. For my photo editing, I tend to gravitate towards an image with a pinker hue and of course try to maintain the amount of contrast that is most pleasing to my eye. My husband always says I have an interesting eye for composition, so I'm interested to see how it evolves as I grow in my newest hobby. Let me know if you recognize any of these sepcies of plants! Another great day for capturing some great memories in the books. Stay tuned for my blog about my first ever deep sea fishing trip! Cheers~
